Women of Steel from all over IL and IN came to the District 7 offices in Gary, IN to attend a WOS meeting in December 2009.

Past and present leadership of the Women of Steel in District 7 came to join the December 2009 WOS meeting.

District 7 Christmas party - Gary Gaines is joined by former District 31 Director (before USW restructured) Ed Sadlowski and past candidate for International President.

Newborns in Need

Wanda Mushill leads a local chapter of Newborns in Need.  They recycle items like T-shirts and make them into articles of clothing for infants recently born to needy parents.  Gary Gaines noticed she hadn't exactly gotten a lot of responses to requests for donated shirts.  He offered to reach out to different groups he knew.

The request made its way though various channels and ended up in the hands of the Green Schools Coordinator for Madison County, IL.  Lincoln Middle School in Edwardsville, IL took the challenge seriously.  In about a month, students and staff collected a pickup truck load.

SOAR sends a BIG HUG and PAT ON THE BACK to the students for their caring and generousity.
