First Annual Scholarship
and Awards Dinner

SOAR will present its first scholarship to a graduating high school senior that meets our pre-requisites and submits a winning essay.  Planning for the event is still ongoing so check back often for more information.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Meetings are on the 2nd Monday of each month at Noon.  After a short business meeting (hopefully) we serve a meal.  The main dish and drinks are provided and EVERYONE is encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert.

The meetings are at the Community Social Club (formerly Venice Social Club) about 1/2 mile west of IL-111 on IL-162.

VOLUNTEERS!!

Our Annual Fund Raiser BBQ will tentatively be on Friday and Saturday - May  21-22.  In addition to being our main source of funds for meals and activities - the BBQ will now also be helping to fund the new scholarship program.  (See the HOME page for more info)

With the advanced preparation needed (buying and transporting supplies and equipment, wrapping a HUGE pile of potatos in foil, etc.) this is actually a three or four day event.  Look at the attendance at monthly meetings and then consider that less than a couple dozen volunteer for the BBQ.

We don't need you all day for both days - but showing up to help for a half day would take a load off the "usual suspects".  Contact Jeff Rains, Bob Murray, Jim Childers, or Gary Gaines to volunteer.

2010 SOAR Picnic

The tentative date for our 2010 picnic is set for June 8 at its customary locate at Bilbrey Farms.  More info will be distributed as plans are completed.  Pass it on!!

The Annual Christmas Party took place at our regular December 14th meeting.  It was very well attended and everyone had a great time and got plenty to eat.  Go to the "Photos" page on this website to see photos of the party.
